A Day in the Infant Room:

We will have a lot of fun in the Infant Room. We will be busy singing songs, reading books, doing art projects, and most important, reaching individual goals for each child such as rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and clapping hands. There is always interaction between your child and their teachers!

We also love to go outside on those nice summer days when the weather is less than 90 degrees. We love buggy rides or just sitting on the playground blowing bubbles or listening to songs and stories. So please make sure your child has sunscreen and a hat. We even go out on cold days if the weather is 20 degrees or above so for those cold months please have a winter hat, coat, and mittens.

All of the babies are on their own sleeping and eating schedule! Please be sure to have all jar food and bottles labeled with your child's name. See 'Daily Schedule' if your child is on table foods.

Cognitive & Sensory

Through the use of finger plays and songs we enhance the children's motor as well as cognitive skills. They learn simple things like waving, clapping, and peek-a-boo. Through art projects, we enhance sensory skills such as finger painting, painting with brushes, using stampers and playing with different textures (for example: cool whip, water and soap, and pudding).

It is okay to bring a book or something to share with the class that goes along with our theme of the day. We will let you know when we are having a special day (like teddy bear day) where we allow children to bring in theme toy.

In our classrooms, we use a thematic approach to our curriculum. We believe that children learn primarily through play and hands-on learning activities. Our room is divided into several different learning centers. Each day we add activities and toys to enrich each center according to the theme of the week.

We try to have a balance of teacher directed and child initiated activities throughout the day. We have set times for learning center activities and we set up writing and math activities as well for the children. A special art activity is usually set up during learning center time too. The children use the computer daily and we go outside to do large motor activities.
